HISTORY
Located
in historic Pennville, Indiana, GFT was founded in 2002 by
Philip Griffith, CEO. Mr. Griffith is expert in the field
of polyimide foams and foaming technologies. In recognition
of his expertise, NASA granted GFT an unlimited field of use
license for several of NASA’s patented polyimide technologies.
These technologies included precursors, foams, and microspheres,
among others. GFT has gone on to produce many advanced polyimide
products for customers in the commercial, military, and advanced
aerospace industries, as well as products for use in automotive
and building construction applications.
In August 2003, GFT developed and produced
the first highly flexible foam from hollow polyimide microspheres.
This revolutionary patent pending material has tremendous
application potential across a wide array of commercial, military,
and government-sponsored industries. Its unique combination
of outstanding mechanical properties makes it a front running
candidate to replace current, inferior quality insulation
technologies.
Properties of this polyimide microsphere
product include toughness and durability, combined with all
the advanced properties of the NASA polyimides (e.g., non-flammable,
no out gassing, no ozone depleting processes, non-halogen,
extremely high “R” value), coupled with its unique
ability to be easily manipulated into any shape or form at
the point of installation.
GFT continues to break new ground in the
development and commercialization of these NASA technologies
with the goal of making advanced, environmentally friendly
polyimide thermal and acoustic insulation materials widely
available at competitive prices.
